The paintings are a body of work exemplifying how candlelight and fire unite people for peace around the world. Julia’s own personal philosophy is that the light from the fires “makes me feel Zen. Zen to me is a peaceful, calm feeling. I think it is awesome that fire (such as when a candle is lit or at a campfire) seems to make all different kinds of people around the world feel Zen too, and it has connected people for such a long time.”
As a complement to her two dimensional pieces, Julia created candles that people can purchase with her paintings and jewelry. “Then, people can bring the feeling of Zen from my artwork, back to their homes and be reminded that we are all united in this special way.”
Julia’s focus and creativity seem to be a natural outpouring of her autism. She has had her challenges in life, yet the color and inspiration flow out of her with a passion that is almost uncontainable. Julia works in many mediums including fabric arts, abstract paintings, prints, and ceramic art and plans to include a few of these in her exhibit.
